Digital Media Project

Myself and Cian have decided to take up the mission that goes by the theme of audio. We chose to do this topic because it seemed like the most entertaining topic to me. To find out and gain knowledge on how it actually works and ways u can change through sound editing devices.

Before we go into looking and gathering information i want to bring my knowledge of sound to the table.

Sound is one of the first few elements at the beginning of time and can be mimicked using different objects and variations. For example dropping a steel play flat and on its side will give off two completely different sounds. This is all due to the impacts and angle of how the object is dropped.

We hope to try and present:

-how sound can be mimicked.

-what is the difference between audio and digital audio.

-how it transmits.

-How it has impacted the community.

What we hope to do in this project is give a clear understanding not only to ourselves but to the audience listening to our presentation.

How we have decided to do this project / presentation is by creating a short audio file which will be recorded on another device separate to the device audacity is on and then bringing it over to audacity to edit the file and then editing it playing the raw file with the edited file and comparing the two together. The raw file we want it to include some wind and background noise so that we can find a way to remove the background or wind noises from the track.

Audacity is a audio recording software that can be used to record sounds through whatever device it is connected to as long as it had a microphone either built in or attached to the device. 

It can also be used for editing audio files and syncing them together through other editing software’s.

Sound has been transmitted in many different ways over time  , such as things like radios in the early days to podcasts to even simple music/audio apps today. From what we are researching we hope we will be able to understand the above mentioned topics and hopefully more  , but the main focus of the project for us is how we are going to deliver it and how we are going to make it clear to those we are presenting to.
